We have borne witness to a multitude of simultaneous, once in a generation disruptions, accelerating change in ways that find us in an entirely new place. One for the makers and creators; the challengers and change agents; the curious and the courageous.
Welcome to the Brave New World.
There are signs that capitalism is starting to be rewired; sector roles are being redefined and leaders standing up – regardless of title, competitors are working together on systemic change and investor activism is helping to keep companies accountable. ESG is being discussed in the boardroom, and purpose, once a nice to have, is fuelling an army of passionate advocates, no longer impressed by the status quo.
With the support from Arup, PwC Australia, Corrections Victoria, AIA Australia, Regnan and South Pole, we will explore the ways in which all sectors are embracing these changes, and it will ask the critical question, ‘how are you helping to make this Brave New World?’
As we look to build this new brave world, it’s important to reflect and acknowledge that what’s needed is not all new and in fact, there’s so much to learn looking back to first nations peoples, practices and concepts and listening deeply so we can take those forward. Connection to place, focusing on ‘we’ not ‘i’ and generational wellbeing rather than just here and now. Let’s start by grounding ourselves deeply in country with 2021 Senior Australian of the Year, Dr Miriam Rose Ungunmer Baumann.
